Frequently Asked Questions

An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) shows how energy efficient your property is, rated from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient). It’s a legal requirement when selling, renting, or building a property, and it helps identify ways to cut energy bills and reduce carbon emissions.

An EPC is valid for 10 years, unless you make major changes (like adding insulation, changing heating systems, or extensions) that could affect your rating.

Our accredited assessor visits your property and collects details about insulation, heating systems, glazing, construction, and lighting. This information is entered into government-approved software to calculate your rating and recommendations.

No major prep is needed, but it helps if:

  • The assessor can easily access lofts, meters, and boiler areas.

  • You have documents for recent upgrades (insulation, windows, heating).

Prices vary depending on property size and type, but typically £50–£120 for domestic properties. Larger commercial buildings cost more.

A rating of C or above is considered good and desirable. Many lenders and landlords are aiming for at least C ratings due to government efficiency targets.
